VISION

Blue Water Healing envisions a world where we harness the transformative power of the ocean to transform lives- one wave, one person, one community at a time. Through the power of surf therapy we empower vulnerable populations to rise with courage, resilience, and hope - one wave at a time.

OUR STORY

Blue Water Healing Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to surf therapy, ocean connection, and community healing. The use of surfing as a vehicle for delivering intentional, inclusive, population-specific, and evidence-based therapeutic structures to promote psychological, physical, and psychosocial well-being. (International Surf Therapy Organization)

Founded by Sophia Arky, a professional surfer, surf-lifesaver, surf-therapist and ocean advocate, we believe that the ocean’s rhythm mirrors our own — and through it, we can rediscover balance and belonging.

Sophia Arky

President

Sophia grew up in Los Angeles, where her connection to the ocean began. She joined Junior Lifeguards at a young age, which sparked her passion for surfing and water safety. With over a decade of ocean experience, she has competed professionally in surf-lifesaving and surfing.

At 14, Sophia was introduced to surf therapy through A Walk On Water—an experience that profoundly shaped her path. Since then, she has dedicated herself to working with neurodivergent individuals through various organizations, witnessing firsthand the ocean’s healing power. Sophia now teaches private surf sessions across California, Mexico, and aspires to bring surf therapy to communities worldwide.
